Dear Frederick Community,
Greetings and Happy 2024!
It’s an exciting new year for us, as our organization works to shape the future of East Frederick and continue to build a community where all who live, work, and play here may thrive.
Our priorities for this year include:
- Promote the East Frederick Vision Plan and complete the adoption of the city’s Form-Based Code that will serve as a guiding light for future development.
- Engage with Frederick City staff to push the progress of the Rails with Trails project alongside N. East Street.
- Contribute to the design of the Rt. 26 Pedestrian Bridge to reflect the rich railroad heritage of East Frederick and our current thriving industries.
- Seek resident and business ideas and input on the creation of a N. East Street linear park that provides a place for all to gather, socialize, and play. East Frederick Rising intends to collaborate with the City and the Frederick Arts Council in the commissioning of a public art project that embraces the heritage of the area while looking forward to the future.
- Review developments of significance and evaluate the ways in which they support the recommendations of the Comprehensive Plan and East Frederick Small Area Plan.
- Engage with City staff, elected officials, and Commissions to convey feedback we collect from East Frederick Stakeholders.
- Prioritize issues of local importance, from brownfield cleanup to school site acquisition, from the East Street Corridor redesign, to filling in connections to existing bike and walking paths.
