Join Us at this Year’s Climate Summit!

East Frederick Rising is excited to support Mobilize Frederick’s 2025 Climate Summit, a two-day event dedicated to advancing climate solutions through community action. This year’s theme, “It’s All Connected! How Climate Solutions Work Together for a Better Future,” explores how transportation, land use, energy, and conservation efforts intersect to create a more sustainable Frederick.

Stop by our table to learn about:

  • East Street Rails with Trails & Regional Connectivity – The East Street Rails with Trails project will create dedicated bicycle infrastructure from Monocacy Boulevard to the downtown Frederick MARC station along the old Pennsylvania Railroad line. This effort will provide a safe, accessible corridor for cyclists and pedestrians while promoting multi-modal transportation. Additionally, Frederick County is developing a connector project that will extend bike infrastructure all the way to Woodsboro, linking communities and expanding regional mobility.
  • Form-Based Code & Smart Growth – With the adoption of the East Frederick Form-Based Code, it will further encourage walkability, mixed-use neighborhoods, and sustainable urban design as East Frederick continues to grow. Learn how these zoning updates support compact growth, reduce sprawl, and enhance community connectivity.
  • East Street Redesign & Green Infrastructure – East Street is a critical corridor that connects East Frederick to Downtown and beyond. Proposed redesign efforts focus on adding protected bike lanes, improving pedestrian access, and integrating green infrastructure elements such as stormwater management systems, street trees, and permeable surfaces. These upgrades will not only enhance mobility but also help mitigate urban heat effects and manage flooding.
  • Third Places & Community Resilience – As we work to strengthen East Frederick’s identity, we are advocating for the creation of “Third Places” — parks, plazas, and gathering spaces that foster social interaction, economic activity, and environmental sustainability. Public spaces designed with sustainability in mind contribute to climate resilience and enhance quality of life for all residents.

Event Highlights:

  • Engaging Panels & Keynotes – Hear from 24 expert speakers and three keynote addresses
  • Interactive Workshops – Topics include native gardening, home energy efficiency, electrification, and climate advocacy
  • Green Schools Program & Student Activities – Inspiring the next generation of climate leaders
  • Networking with 400+ Attendees – Connect with elected officials, business owners, educators, and community leaders
